Just When You Thought It Would Be Easy, It Wasn't

My first book, Gravity Gone, started as a way to put a repetitive dream on paper. Thanks to Amazon’s KDP, publishing it became possible for me. Some readers even said they liked it. Looking back now, I’m a little surprised. It didn’t follow the usual structure — no clear conflict, no tidy resolutions, and definitely no character arc. It was simply the story of a young man growing up, meeting a girl, getting along with her, and eventually catching the attention of the bad guy.
A professional editor once told me to cut the first twenty chapters. I did. That became Gravity Gone – The Stone Mystery.
Honest reviews pointed out one of my weaknesses as an author: point of view. I wanted to fix that. After finishing Beyond the Bridge, I went back to the beginning. I scrubbed and washed the manuscript, and entire chapters fell away. My goal this time was three point‑of‑view characters, real conflict, real resolution, and an actual story arc.
I think I have a better book now.
Version 2 released this week. I’m working hard to get the website updated and the links working properly as Amazon finishes its processing.
By the way: the third book in the series is moving along well and should be released this year as planned. Let the fun begin again.
